Frequently asked questions
- How many pixels across a defect do I need?
- As a working rule: 2-3 pixels for presence detection, 4-6 for character verification, and 10 or more for dimensional measurement with tight tolerances. Low-contrast defects need more than high-contrast ones.
- Why add fixture margin?
- Because parts move. Fixture tolerance, product variation and future SKUs routinely consume 20-30% of a field of view that looked exact on paper.
